Facade/entrance in Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts

Hotel is beautiful! The design and the room were pretty. Great Gastro bar across the street, called The Faces. TV had some English channels besides news. Great location near all the sights and markets. Staff friendly and helpful. Robes and slippers provided with room. Water refill station in the lobby was convenient. 7-11 nearby.

We loved the pool and our room was nice. The hotel offers free cooking classes in the afternoon which are great.

The hotel is serenely set amidst a jungly garden just inside Chiang Mai’s old city walls. It was almost as if we were staying in the ruins of an old temple - but with all the mod cons, of course. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful.

The hotel is beautifully finished and makes you feel like you're in a jungle when you're in the heart of Old town Chiang Mai with easy access to all amenities, temples and markets. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble.. There is a few activity every afternoon for the guests to enjoy which was really fantastic and a lovely touch!

The location is wonderful as it is in a quiet part of the old city but very close to a local market. I got exposed to how locals lead their life. I also talked with many staff working at hotel, and they are very friendly. One of them told me that their owner has been in the business of terracotta art, and that is why the hotel has demonstrated a unique art style. The staff at the late afternoon when I checked out helped me with communicating with the Grab driver so that he would drive me to the right departure gate. The owner has put a lot of thought into this hotel. The swimming pool seems to have mother-of-pearl bricks. They reflect from different angles. It was quite a joy when I saw them while swimming. I can think of many details that have made this hotel extraordinary. If you care about experience, it is certainly the right choice. I had an amazing stay here and would recommend it to my friend.

Breakfast is served in a building next to the hotel; you can have eggs, different types of fresh fruit, yoghurt, jam, and some hot oriental dishes (noodles, rice, soup, meat). The variety is not extensive, but everything is very, very good and satisfying. The staff are very friendly. The location is within the old city square. Easily accessible, 20 minutes from the airport. Most of Chiang Mai's main temples are within walking distance of the hotel. In any case, using the GRAB app, it is very easy to book taxis (similar to Uber), which are inexpensive (2-4 euros within the city). Opposite the hotel is a good, elegant restaurant (The Faces). Also nearby, on Phra Pok Klao Rd, we tried an excellent massage centre, CALM. Opposite is a shop selling antique and less antique items, with some interesting objects. As for restaurants, we recommend the following. TIME (inside the Hotel Na Nirand) is located along the river; elegant, relatively more expensive; here we tried the best Khoi Soy and other excellent dishes. Baan Landai, and PARI. But of course, street food is always available and worth trying. For shopping, the Moei Arts Shop (https://sopmoeiarts.com/) has beautiful items; the shop next door is also worth a visit. In the large market in Chinatown, at the intersection with Chiang Moi Tud Moi Rd, there is a stall with beautiful (and expensive) fabrics from Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. In addition, inside the Baba Pim Villa Guest House (41 Samlan Road Soi 7, near the Terracotta Hotel), you will find a lovely shop selling small jewellery, costume jewellery and malas (Buddhist rosaries).

We loved our stay here, largely due to how fantastic the staff are. They are so welcoming and friendly, we couldn't help but smile when we walked into the lobby (we would be warmly greeted, every time!) The reception staff, kitchen/breakfast staff and housekeeping staff were always incredibly friendly and happy to help. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and perfectly cleaned every day. The grounds of the hotel are nice if you like an outdoorsy/nature feel, and despite being near a market we didn't notice much noise from it when we were in the hotel or by the pool. There was enough of a selection at breakfast for us, but it was not a huge spread of lots of different hot and cold options (a couple of each, plus an egg menu and selection of coffees). We were happy with this, but if you are expecting lots of choice you may want to eat out for breakfast. The hotel ran a cooking class each day which we didn't attend, but it seems like a nice idea. The location of the hotel was great for venturing further into the old city, or outside of it (we found great restaurants in both directions!) I'd really recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

The Phor Liang Meun was a quiet haven in the busy streets of Chiang Mai. It is a beautifully designed and kept hotel with a relaxing atmosphere, airconditioning and also great water pressure for the shower (I travel a lot for work and in most hotels this can be a problem). The hotel staff were friendly, attentive and very professional. They were also super helpful with recommendations and logistics, and they have a great brochure collection for local activities and day trips. The hotel is very centrally located so almost everything around the Old City is within walking distance. We had a fantastic time staying at the Phor Liang Meun and definitely plan to do it again when we come back to Chiang Mai.

Breakfast in Phor Liang Meun Terracotta Arts

⚫ The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, even remembering things about their guests and checking up on them, or asking how an activity went. ⚫ They also had loads of accommodations for vegetarian and vegan diets, offering a separate menu of things freshly made. ⚫ The hotel itself is very impressive, the pool is fantastic and it feels airy and fresh in the hotel due to its open-air style. ⚫ There are lots of terracotta statues and beautiful murals that give the hotel an impeccable sense of place and style. ⚫ The rooms are spacious and very clean. ⚫ Definitely worth the slightly more expensive price tag than other hotels in the area.
